Fremont, Ohio May 18, 2025

A train has struck several pedestrians near the Hayes Ave Bridge in Fremont, Sandusky County, according to emergency radio traffic. The incident occurred close to the Sandusky River near Bradys Island, with reports indicating some individuals may have ended up in the water.


Multiple agencies, including Fremont Police, EMS, and Search and Rescue teams, are on the scene, conducting an extensive search of the river. Mercy Health Life Flight has also deployed a helicopter to assist in the efforts. The Hayes Ave Bridge is located near train tracks that run parallel to the Sandusky River, a known area of concern for pedestrian safety. 





Details about the victims, the cause of the incident, and the extent of injuries remain unclear as the situation develops. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area to facilitate the ongoing emergency response.
